Blackberry Playbook Web Development

Blackberry Playbook Development
The Playbook is one of the major tablets in the smart tablet market. While it isn't as popular as iPhone and Android tablets, there is a large class of businessmen and entrepreneurs who prefer Blackberry to any other mobile operating system. Also, as the name suggests, this tablet is packed with powerful entertainment features. The Blackberry tablet is not only great for working - it is fantastic for playing too. As a result of Playbook’s success, there is a huge demand for websites and web apps that work on this tablet. This, in turn, has opened up a new field of programming: Playbook web development.

What is Blackberry Playbook Web Development?

Just like iPad and Android-based tablets, the Playbook uses a separate operating system. Apple devices run on iOS, Android devices run on Android OS and Blackberry devices run on Blackberry OS. By building apps for this tablet, you can sell them on Blackberry App World. You can also build custom tablet apps that help you simplify and automates the business processes of your organization.

It is also possible to design and developer websites that work perfectly on the tablet screen. The term Playbook web development includes the development of web apps and websites for the Playbook.

Blackberry Tablet Web Apps Development

Web apps harness the power of the Internet to offer powerful web-based services to the users. Blackberry is known for its instant messaging and other built-in web-based apps. There are several ways in which you can make tablet web app development work for you:

·        Create useful, productive or entertaining web apps, sell them, and earn profits
·        Give apps for free but use them for brand promotion or advertisement
·        Provide updates, sell your products, or offer services through web apps

5 Cross-Platform Mobile Development Platforms

Cross-Platform Mobile Development
As mobile OSes — especially iPhone and Android — wax and wane, the pressing question remains: How do you choose which mobile devices to develop for and which devices to omit from your roadmap?

Cross-OS platforms for mobile development on the whole are not yet a completely perfect, have-your-cake-and-eat-it-too solution, but many of them offer an excellent alternative to ignoring one mobile OS in favor of another or, perhaps worse, burning serious resources to develop for two or three platforms at once.

Here are a few cross-platform development tools that were recommended to us by sources we trust. If you know of others or if you have any helpful tips about the frameworks we’re mentioning here, please let us know about them in the comments.

1. RhoMobile

The tagline “one codebase, every smartphone” pretty much says it all. RhoMobile offers Rhodes, an open source, Ruby-based framework that allows for development of native apps for a wide range of smartphone devices and operating systems. OSes covered include iPhone, Android, Windows Mobile, RIM and Symbian.

The framework lets you write your code once and use it to quickly build apps for every major smartphone. Native apps are said to take full advantage of available hardware, including GPS and camera, as well as location data.

In addition to Rhodes, currently in its 2.0 iteration, RhoMobile offers RhoHub, a hosted development environment, and RhoSync, a standalone server that keeps app data current on users’ mobile devices.

2. Appcelerator

When we polled Twitter followers for recommended cross-platform tools, Appcelerator stood out as a fan favorite.

Another FOSS offering, Appcelerator’s Titanium Development Platform allows for the development of native mobile, tablet and desktop applications through typical web dev languages such as JavaScript, PHP, Python, Ruby and HTML. Titanium also gives its users access to more than…Read more:

Android Apps to Windows 8 - 500,000 Apps Bring By BlueStacks and AMD

Mobile Apps Development Team
Don’t worry Windows 8 users. You won’t have to look at all those Apple users and suffer from too much app envy. BlueStacks and AMD have you covered.

The two companies have teamed up to bring 500,000 mobile Android apps to Windows PCs through the AMD AppZone Player starting Thursday. The software is powered by BlueStacks, a company that makes it possible to download and run Android apps on PCs and Macs.

The partnership between BlueStacks and AMD, which has invested in the software company, focuses on optimizing Android apps for AMD-powered Windows devices. While Intel-powered PCs can access Android apps through BlueStacks’ original Windows software, the AppZone Player is optimized for AMD’s GPU and APU technology.

“This helps AMD leapfrog Intel by making Windows 8 more attractive on their tablets and PCs,” BlueStacks CEO Rosen Sharma told Wired in an e-mail. “We’ve worked closely together to optimize the performance of the apps for AMD’s unique ‘graphics and computing on one chip’ setup. The result is awesome — mobile apps run beautifully on their machines.”

The AppZone Player is especially useful considering the nascent state of app development for Windows 8. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is currently pitching the new system to developers, but the platform has only around 2,000 apps just one month before launch. With BlueStacks’ technology, AMD PC users won’t have to worry; they will be able to easily access the apps available on the established Android ecosystem.

Popular apps like Flipboard, Homerun Baseball and Jetpack Joyride will be available to use on current AMD-powered Windows 7 PCs and upcoming Windows 8 devices (including touch-enabled ones). Currently, however, most manufacturers have announced Intel-powered Windows 8 PCs, notebooks and tablets.…Read more:

The Trouble with Apple's iPad mini

Apple iPad Apps Development
Last Friday the long waited, much talked about and overly hyped iPad mini hit the shelves. As with any new Apple (AAPL) product launch, particularly in a slow news cycle, the media scrutinized the crowds and lines in front of several Apple Stores to decide whether or not the product is a hit or not. We saw this earlier this year with both the iPhone 5 as well as the new iPad.

As a number of media outlets reported, the queues for the iPad mini were small in comparison to those other two product launches. Some reports talked of greater crowds and longer lines for debut of Microsoft’s (MSFT) Surface tablet.  Holding its ground, on Monday Apple reported that it sold three million iPads in the first three days after launching the new iPad mini and fourth generation iPad. That’s double the previous first weekend milestone of 1.5 million Wi-Fi only models sold for the third generation iPad in March. Impressive but that figure does not distinguish between how many iPad minis were sold and home many new iPads were sold?

With Barnes & Noble (BKS) cutting the price of its Nook Tablet and Nook Color yet again – that’s two price cuts in three months – entry-level tablet prices are falling. Following that second price cut, you’ll be able to pick up the original 8GB Nook tablet for $159, the 16GB version for $179 and the Nook Color for $139. That compares to Amazon’s (AMZN) entry level Kindle Fire priced at $159. Compared to those products, the entry-level iPad mini is a much pricier $329

Now Apple’s product has historically had a premium price associated with them – that’s nothing new. The premium for the iPad mini compared to other entry-level tablets, however, is high enough that it has raised some eyebrows. Yep, the iPad mini has a number of features found in the iPad, but in a smaller form factor. Early reviews are in and have generally been favorable for the iPad mini compared to the…Read more:

iPhone Game Development - Best Apps for Gaming

While pediatricians insist that children should not be exposed to technology at an early age, every parent knows that it is difficult to keep kids away from the iPhone. Any amount of 'screen time' can harm the growth of kids under the age of 2, but it is not easy to stop older kids from playing with iPhones. The best you can do is restricting the amount of time they spend on such devices; also, you can download games specifically made for toddlers.

Children older than 3 years can easily grasp the touch-based iPhone UI, and good iPhone games can help the kids learn more about the world surrounding them. As a parent, you must ensure that your kids do not spend too long playing games on the iPhone. But if you are going to allow them to play games on the iPhone, you can do worse than download the following titles:

1. Old MacDonald

iPhone game development for toddlers doesn't get better than this. Old MacDonald is a classic; it is more of an animated book with pages of interactive images and pictures. Old MacDonald is made specifically for kids who are learning how to read. It matches sounds, images and words to help kids gain a better understanding of the world they live in.

2. Animal Memory Match

There are a number of memory tiles and cards with animal pictures and animal names. The players need to match the animal names with the pictures. When they make a match, they are rewarded with funny sounds. You can switch between easy and difficult levels according to the age and intelligence of the kids.

3. Cute Math

Not many kids love Math, but most toddlers like playing games. Cute Math uses animation and different visuals to teach the concepts of addition and subtraction to toddlers. The iPhone game developer who created this game designed it specifically for very young children, and kids playing this game will instinctively learn addition and subtraction.…Read more:
